Air pushes up too!- Pour water through a piece of cheesecloth so the observer can see that it is porous.
- Now, cover a clean baby food jar with cheesecloth that is securely fastened at the rim.
- Slowly pour water through the cheesecloth into the jar.
- Lift the jar and turn it over.
The water will not go through the cloth because of the water's surface tension and it's ability to adhere to the cloth. This experiment shows that air pressure pushes equally all around.
