- Cut open a disposable diaper and put the powder into a small paper cup. You can also use "Water loc" from a plant nursery or garden center. The chemical can be purchased from a chemical supply house like Carolina or Flinn under the name of sodium polyacrylate. Your last choice to to break open a disposable diaper and get the powder from inside.
- Now for the mystery. Half fill another paper cup with water.
- Then pour the water from that cup into your empty cup with powder.
- Swirl once or twice and say some magic words.
- Then take the cup and turn it over in front of someone.
- The water will not come out.
- To get the water out you have to add salt and presto--the water reappears.
